What you might notice
Drips near the heater unit
Moisture around connectors
Pooling water beneath the spa or around the filter housing
A drop in water level faster than expected
Common causes
Most leaks around the heater area are caused by one of the following:
Loose filter connections – The filter inlet or outlet can work loose over time, especially after refilling or moving the spa.
Loose inflation valve cap – If the cap isn't fully tightened, water can seep out around the valve.
Loose air blower connector clip – Inside the liner, the blower connector can become unseated, causing water to track along the hose and drip near the heater.
Worn or damaged O-rings – Over time, the rubber O-rings on filter connections can degrade and lose their seal.
Step-by-step checks
Unplug the spa and allow it to cool if recently heated.
-
Check and hand-tighten the following:
Filter inlet
Filter outlet
Inflation valve cap
Dry the area fully with a towel so you can clearly identify where any new drips originate.
Plug the spa back in and restart. Watch closely for 5–10 minutes to see if the drip returns and where it's coming from.
If leaking continues
Drain and unplug the spa completely before proceeding.
Unzip the liner access panel (usually located on the underside or side of the spa).
Locate the air blower connector and tighten the clip securely.
While the liner is open, inspect the O-rings on the filter connections. If they appear cracked, flattened, or discoloured, they may need replacing.
Refill, restart, and recheck for any further drips.
Checking O-rings
O-rings are small rubber seals that sit inside the filter connection points. To inspect them:
Drain the spa and unscrew the filter housing.
Remove the O-ring and check for cracks, flat spots, or brittleness.
If damaged, replace with a compatible O-ring (check your model's user manual for the correct size).
Apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the new O-ring before refitting to help create a better seal.
Prevention tips
Always hand-tighten filter connections after cleaning or replacing the filter — avoid over-tightening with tools, which can damage threads.
Check connections after every refill or after moving the spa.
Inspect O-rings at the start of each season and replace if they show signs of wear.
Keep the inflation valve cap on at all times when the spa is in use.
Safety reminder
Always unplug your spa from the mains before inspecting or tightening any connections. Never operate the spa if you suspect a significant leak — drain it first and resolve the issue before use.
