Is your Wave Spa controller showing a code or beeping? Check the display, find the code below, and follow the link for the step-by-step fix.

Safety first: always switch off and unplug the spa before handling the filter, heater or connections. Never open the pump or heater casing.

Controller codes

Code What it means What to do
FC Filter Change reminder. Not a fault: it appears after a set number of filtration hours. The pump and heating buttons are disabled until you clear it. Check and clean the filter, then press Filter. FC guide
SL Slow flow: water isn't flowing through the heater fast enough, usually because of a dirty filter or cold weather. Clean or replace the filter. In cold weather, pour warm water into the spa. SL guide
HL High temperature: a blockage is stopping water circulating, causing a high temperature reading. Often triggered by unplugging the spa while it's heating. Follow the cool-down and filter reset. HL guide
SH Water temperature sensor issue. Please contact us using the chat widget.
FP Freeze Protect mode has been activated. Press HEATER, then UP until you reach 20°C / 68°F. If FP still shows, contact us.
PE The spa has detected an extension cable, or a socket without an earth connection. Plug directly into an earthed mains socket. If PE still shows, have a qualified electrician check the socket.
E3 / E6 The heater is finding it hard to heat up, often because water flow is restricted. Check water flow and clean the filter. E3/E6 guide
E5 Temperature protection: water isn't flowing through the heater properly, or the temperature reading is out of range. Clean the filter, check the water level and reset. E5 guide
E9 An electrical or power supply fault at the pump, often caused by an extension lead. Plug directly into a wall socket and reset the RCD. E9 guide
P0 Controller communication fault: the control panel isn't communicating properly with the heater/power unit. Can be caused by a loose or damp controller connection, moisture, or a power glitch. Switch off and unplug the spa for 10–15 minutes, then plug back in. If P0 returns, unplug again, disconnect the controller from its cable, make sure the pins are completely dry, reconnect with the pins aligned and screw the sleeve on tightly. Don't open the controller or heater casing. If P0 still shows, contact us.

No code showing?

Controller beeping and can't find the cause?

Note anything shown on the display, then try a simple reset: switch the spa off at the controller, unplug it from the mains, wait a few minutes, plug it back in and press ON / RESET on the RCD plug.

If the beeping continues, please use the chat widget at the bottom of the page and send us:

  • Your order number or proof of purchase

  • A photo of the batch code on your spa (bottom-right of the warning/safety panel, e.g. "07 24")

  • A short video of the controller while it's beeping, showing the display
