Energy Efficient Hot Tubs

Our foam models use around 8 kWh a day and the Adriatic frame spa the same, which works out at roughly £2.40 in the UK, $2.40 in the US or €2.40 in the EU. Inflatables use about double that. Our running cost calculator gives an estimate on your own tariff rather than a headline figure.

Insulation, more than anything else. WaveEco foam construction is up to 60% more thermally efficient than an inflatable wall, and the aluminium frame Adriatic reaches up to 70%. A fitted thermal cover is the second biggest factor, cutting heat loss by up to 50% again.

Fit a thermal cover first, since the water surface is where most heat escapes. Add an insulating floor mat to stop heat draining into cold ground. Keep the temperature at 37 to 38°C / 99 to 100°F rather than 40°C, and leave the tub at temperature rather than heating from cold each time.
