What you might notice

  • Bubble jets won't turn on

  • Bubble jets stop suddenly

  • Bubble button doesn't respond immediately

  • Bubbles seem weaker than usual

  • Bubble jets work intermittently

Why this happens

The bubble system has a built-in safety cooling cycle to protect the air pump. This is a normal feature of all Wave Spa models — not a fault. The air pump generates heat during use, and the automatic pause prevents it from overheating and extends the life of the motor.

Understanding this cycle is the key to knowing whether your spa needs attention or is simply working as designed.

How the bubble cycle works

  • The bubble jets can run continuously for approximately 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, the pump automatically pauses for around 10 minutes to cool down.
  • Once cooled, you can press the Bubble button again to restart the jets.
  • This cycle repeats each time you use the bubble system — it is completely normal and by design.

If your bubbles stopped after around 20 minutes of use, no action is needed — simply wait 10 minutes and press the button again.

Step-by-step: Quick reset

If the bubble jets won't start at all (not just paused mid-cycle), follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the spa using the control panel.

  2. Unplug the spa from the mains.

  3. Leave it unplugged for 10–15 minutes to allow the air pump to cool completely.

  4. Plug the spa back in.

  5. Power the spa on using the control panel and wait for it to fully initialise (around 30 seconds).

  6. Press the Bubble button and hold for 1–2 seconds.

Important to know

  • The bubble system can run for about 20 minutes, then pauses for around 10 minutes — this is normal

  • This pause protects the motor from overheating

  • The bubble system and the heating/filtration system operate independently — your water temperature and filtration are not affected when the bubble jets pause

  • Running the bubble jets does not heat the water — they circulate air, not heated water

Tips for getting the best from your bubble jets

  • Water temperature matters: Bubble jets feel most effective when the water is already at your desired temperature. Starting the jets while the water is still heating up can make them feel less powerful.
  • Water level: Make sure the water is filled to the recommended level marked on the inside of the spa. Too little water can reduce bubble intensity and put strain on the pump.
  • Keep the filter clean: A blocked or dirty filter can restrict airflow and reduce bubble performance. Rinse your filter cartridge regularly and replace it every 4–6 weeks depending on use.
  • Avoid running bubbles and heating simultaneously for extended periods: While both can run at the same time, running them together for long periods uses more energy. For efficiency, heat the water first, then enjoy the bubbles.

If it still won't work

If the bubble jets remain unresponsive after the reset, try the following checks before contacting support:

  • Check the control panel display: Are any error codes showing? If so, note the code as this will help our team diagnose the issue faster.
  • Test the button: Press the Bubble button firmly. If the button feels stuck or doesn't click, the control panel may need attention.
  • Check the power supply: Ensure the spa is plugged directly into a wall socket (not an extension lead) and that the RCD/GFCI safety plug has not tripped. Press the reset button on the plug if needed.
  • Try a second reset: Repeat the 10–15 minute unplugged reset one more time before contacting us.

If none of the above resolves the issue, please use the chat widget at the bottom of the page and have the following ready:

  • Your order number

  • A description of what the bubble button does when pressed (e.g. nothing, a brief flicker, a sound)

  • Any error codes shown on the control panel display

  • How long you have had the spa and whether this issue is new or has been ongoing
