Modern relaxation is digital. By pairing your Wave Spa with the Wave Smart App (available on the App Store and Google Play), you can control the temperature, schedule filtration, and activate bubbles from anywhere. Here's how to get connected and stay connected.

The Pre-Flight Checklist

Before you start pairing, 90% of connection issues can be solved by checking these three things:

  1. The 2.4GHz Rule: Most home routers broadcast in two "bands": 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The Wave Smart App only works on 2.4GHz. If your phone is on 5GHz, the spa won't see it. You may need to temporarily "split" your bands in your router settings.

  2. Signal Strength: Your spa is likely outside. Brick walls and distance kill WiFi signals. If you don't have at least two bars of WiFi at the spa's location, you may need a WiFi Extender.

  3. Bluetooth & Location: Ensure both are turned ON on your phone during the pairing process to help the app "handshake" with the spa.

Step-by-Step Pairing Guide

  1. Power On: Plug in your spa and ensure the control panel is active.

  2. Enter Pairing Mode: Press and hold the WiFi button on the control panel until you hear a beep and the light starts flashing rapidly.

  3. Open the App: Tap the "+" icon or "Add Device." The app should automatically detect the "Wave Smart Spa."

  4. Enter Credentials: Enter your home WiFi password (double-check for typos!) and wait for the progress bar to reach 100%.

Getting the Most From Your Smart App

Once connected, the Wave Smart App unlocks a range of features that go well beyond basic on/off control. Here's how to make the most of them:

Scheduling Your Heat

One of the most energy-efficient habits you can build is using the app's scheduling feature. Rather than leaving your spa at temperature all day, set it to begin heating 1–2 hours before you plan to use it. For example, if you typically soak at 7pm, schedule heating to start at 5pm. This keeps running costs down without sacrificing comfort.

  • Go to Device Settings → Schedule in the app.

  • Set your preferred start time and target temperature.

  • You can create different schedules for weekdays and weekends.

Setting a Target Temperature

The app lets you set your desired water temperature remotely, so you can nudge it up on a cold evening or cool it down for a summer soak. The spa will heat or maintain water to your chosen temperature automatically. Most users find 38–40°C ideal for a relaxing soak, while 35–37°C is popular for longer sessions or warmer days.

Filtration Scheduling

Regular filtration keeps your water clean and extends the life of your chemicals. The app allows you to set automatic filtration cycles — we recommend running filtration for at least 2–4 hours per day, ideally split into two cycles (e.g., morning and evening). You'll find this under Device Settings → Filter Cycle.

Sharing Access With Family

You don't have to be the only one in control. The Wave Smart App supports multi-user access, so you can share your spa with family members or housemates:

  • The primary account holder goes to Device Settings → Share Device.

  • Enter the email address of the person you'd like to invite.

  • They'll receive an invitation to download the app and link to your spa.

  • Shared users can control temperature, bubbles, and lights — but only the primary account can delete the device or change sharing settings.

Improving Your WiFi Signal Outdoors

A weak or intermittent signal is the most common cause of smart spa frustrations. Here are some practical ways to improve connectivity:

  • WiFi Extender / Repeater: A plug-in extender placed near a window or external wall facing your garden can dramatically improve signal strength at the spa. Look for one that supports 2.4GHz.

  • Powerline Adapters: These use your home's electrical wiring to carry the internet signal. Pair one with an outdoor-rated access point for a more stable connection than WiFi alone.

  • Mesh WiFi Systems: If you have a larger garden or persistent dead zones, a mesh system (such as Google Nest WiFi or TP-Link Deco) can blanket your outdoor space in reliable coverage.

  • Router Placement: If possible, move your router closer to the side of the house nearest your spa, or ensure it's positioned high up and away from thick walls.

Common Feature Troubleshooting

The "20-Minute Bubble Rule"

  • The Issue: The bubbles turn off by themselves after 20 minutes.

  • The Reason: This is a built-in safety feature! The air blower is a high-powered motor that generates heat. The system automatically shuts it down for a 10-minute cool-down period to prevent the motor from burning out. You cannot override this, but you can restart them after the break.

LED Lighting Issues

If your spa features an LED strip that isn't glowing:

  • Check the Connection: Ensure the 4-pin connector is pushed firmly into the port on the heater unit.

  • The Remote: Many LED strips use an RF remote. Ensure the plastic battery tab has been removed.

  • App Control: If your lights are app-controlled, ensure the "Light" toggle is active in the device menu.

App Showing "Offline"

If your spa worked yesterday but is "Offline" today:

  • Power Cycle: Unplug the spa for 30 seconds and plug it back in.

  • Update: Check the App Store/Google Play for updates to the Wave Smart App.

  • Re-Pair: If all else fails, "Forget Device" in the app and repeat the pairing steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I control my spa when I'm away from home?

Yes! As long as your spa is connected to your home WiFi and the router is online, you can control it from anywhere in the world via the Wave Smart App. This is great for pre-heating before you return from a holiday or a long day out.

Does the app work without an internet connection?

No — the app requires an active internet connection on both your phone and your home router to communicate with the spa. If your home broadband goes down, you can still use the physical control panel on the spa itself.

Will the spa remember my settings if it loses power?

Yes. Your temperature settings and schedules are stored in the app and will re-sync to the spa once power is restored and the connection re-establishes. You may need to open the app once to trigger the sync.

How many users can share one spa?

The Wave Smart App supports multiple shared users on a single device. There's no strict limit, but we recommend keeping it to household members to avoid conflicting temperature changes!

My app updated and now the spa won't connect — what do I do?

Occasionally, a major app update can reset the device pairing. If this happens, go to "Forget Device" in the app and follow the pairing steps from scratch. Your schedules and preferences will be restored once re-paired.
