What Is the FC Code?
The FC message on your Wave Spa controller stands for Filter Change. It is not a fault or error — it's simply a built-in reminder that your filter may need to be checked or replaced. Your spa is designed to display this message periodically to help you keep the water clean and your spa running at its best.
Step 1: Clear the FC Reminder
To dismiss the FC message, press the FILTER button on your controller. This tells the spa that you've acknowledged the reminder. The message should clear immediately.
Step 2: Check and Clean Your Filter
While you have the FC reminder, it's a great opportunity to inspect your filter cartridge. A clean filter is essential for maintaining water quality and protecting your spa's pump.
- Remove the filter cartridge from inside the spa.
- Rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose, working from top to bottom.
- Check for any visible damage, discolouration, or debris that won't rinse away.
- If the filter looks worn or heavily soiled, replace it with a new cartridge.
- Reinsert the clean or new filter securely before restarting your spa.
Tip: We recommend cleaning your filter every 1–2 weeks and replacing it every 4–6 weeks depending on usage.
Step 3: Perform a Power Reset
If the FC message remains after pressing the FILTER button, try resetting the power on your spa:
- Locate the RESET button on the plug or power unit.
- Press the RESET button.
- Press TEST/ON.
- Press the RESET button again.
Once reset, power the spa back on and check whether the FC message has cleared.
Still Seeing the FC Code?
If the message persists after following all the steps above, it's possible that the controller itself may need to be replaced. Before we arrange anything, our team will want to take a closer look. Please use the chat widget at the bottom of this page and send us the following photos so we can assess the situation:
- The FC code displayed on your controller screen.
- The inside of the spa where the filter sits.
- How your spa is powered — the socket or extension lead it's plugged into.
Our team will review your photos and advise on the best next steps, whether that's a simple fix or a replacement part.
Preventing the FC Code in Future
Keeping on top of filter maintenance is the best way to avoid the FC reminder appearing unexpectedly. Here are a few habits that will help:
- Rinse your filter weekly, especially during heavy use.
- Keep a spare filter cartridge to hand so you can swap it out quickly.
- Check the water chemistry regularly — unbalanced water can clog filters faster.
- Always ensure the filter housing is properly seated and the cap is secure.
